Since the beginning of operations, Corporación Minera Centauro has been responsible towards the environment. In this sense, the conservation and preservation of biodiversity at the area of operations are the best indicators of a proper and harmonious coexistence between nature and mining activity.

 

This is how Corporación Minera Centauro manages biodiversity from a dynamic, adaptable and integrated approach. The company is pleased to witness that between the years 2000 and 2012, whilst the Quicay Mine was still in operation, a meaningful increase of Flora and Fauna species types has been reported.

 

The Flora and Fauna numbers were obtained from the Biannual Biological Monitoring submitted to the Ministry of Energy and Mines, which aims at verifying the effectiveness of the coverage and revegetation system designed and also to assess the degree of taking roots of the species and the success of the vegetation systems applied.
